Christmas on 34th Street

No, unfortunately I did not make it to New York...not this year anyway. But I did make it to 34th Street in Baltimore. I took Naima to see the Christmas lights. She was so pressed when she saw the Santa's on people porches. She kept saying "I want to go to Santa's house!" I kept assuring her that wasn't Santa's house and that there is no such thing as a Santa. She was unconvinced, so eventually I just gave it up.

What made it even worse was that at the end of the night, walking back to the car we walked past a Santa on his motorcycle/sleigh and Naima was so excited. But there was a crowd around him taking photos and she got sad and said "Santa not talking to me." She was heartbroken, so I gave in and walked her over to meet "Santa" who I will now definitely not be able to convince her doesn't exist. She smiled so big and took a photo with him. She came back and said "Ma, Santa talked to me..." I rolled with it...I was like "He did?" She said "Yeah" Happy as can be...

We got back to the car and enjoyed a thermos full of steaming hot chocolate almond milk that I made just for the occasion. It was fun!
